Bangkok Hotels – Where to stay near Sukhumvit Soi 11?

NB – All the hotels on this page are ‘guest friendly’ meaning there are no girl joiner fees to pay. When you book a room make sure you check 2 under how many adults are staying.

Sukhumvit Soi 11 was always my number one location to stay when I used to holiday in Bangkok (before I lived here). The mid range hotel choices are great and often fantastic value for money. I used to always stay at the ‘President Palace’ hotel but unfortunately that hotel has closed down now (as of July 2016).

The location is great for Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza and both are a 10 minute walk away. The Nana Skytrain station is at the end of the street too which is brilliant. There are many bars and restaurants on the the street, but the best thing is that many late nightclubs are located here (Including Climax, Levels and Wax / Sugar). So you can walk home easily instead of trying to get a taxi home.

Choosing your hotel in Bangkok can make or break your stay, I always recommend to any friends to stay near Nana Plaza, Sukhumvit Soi 11 or Soi Cowboy. All are near the Skytrain and are centrally located for the restaurants, bars and night clubs.

Bangkok is a massive city with over 8 million people living here, transport can be a big issue so you don’t want to book a hotel in the wrong place.

Do not stay near the Chao Phraya River or Khaosan road if you are going to be frequenting the bar areas of Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza. Getting taxis all the time will waste both time and money.

Here is my solid list of hotel options to stay near the Soi 11 area. I have recommended these places to many friends over the years who come and stay in the area. Prices are from low to high and are quoted in $ Dollars for clarity.

Le Fenix Sukhumvit

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 147 rooms.

Room prices start from around $44.50 a night.

Nice location on Soi 11 for all the bars and nightclubs. The popular rooftop bar ‘The Nest’ is on the roof. Free WIFI and fitness centre on site.

Free shuttle service dropping off at Nana BTS Station and other nearby locations.

Overall: I’ve actually stayed at this hotel in the past, I found everything fine and I enjoyed my stay. It’s a good hotel and for the price its great value for the area.

NB: If you look at the tripadvisor mixed reviews about Le Fenix, reading between the lines it seems most people are expecting ‘The Ritz’ from a $45 hotel. Better to look at the reviews from well travelled Westerners who normally give 4 or 5 stars as it is a solid hotel for the money.

Tips: Reserve your room as far in advance as possible for the best room rates. Book through this agoda link for the best insider deals (I was quoted 1483 baht a night for a room in October 2017 which is fantastic value for the area)

[WILD CARD – stay here if you want to be right on the action on soi 7/1 with plenty of naughty massage places, bars and even a live music freelancer night club on the street]

iCheck Inn Nana

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 47 rooms.

Room prices start from around $43 a night.

Excellent location for Nana Skytrain station, and the bars, restaurants and nightclubs in the surrounding area. Free WIFi, no pool or gym but nice clean rooms are reported.

Overall: This hotel is a nice one and has consistently good reviews. It’s location is right on Sukhumvit Soi 7/1 which I usually refer to in my YouTube videos as the ‘dirty massage street.’ 🙂 Solo travellers would be right at home here with bars and massage places on their doorstep.

Reserve a room through this agoda link for the best insider deals prices (I was quoted just 1444 baht a night for a room in October 2017 which is good value for a clean room in this location).

As of August 2017 the ‘walk in’ rate was 1800 baht, so anything under this price online is a good deal.

Sukhumvit soi 7/1, also known as soi Eden or soi BJ. I just refer to it as the dirty massage street 🙂

Salil Hotel

A 4-star, guest friendly, boutique hotel with 84 rooms.

Rooms start from around $56 a night.

Free WIFI, an amazing location, great service with consistently good reviews but be aware that it lacks facilities a little in that there is no fitness centre or swimming pool.

Overall: A trendy, boutique hotel right at the action on Soi 11 next to the Australian bar and Wax / Sugar night club. If you fancy staying in a non generic hotel room then this is the one for you 🙂

Reserve a room through this agoda link for the best insider deals price (I was quoted 1856 baht a night in October 2017)

Citadines Sukhumvit 11 – [travelallasia.com highly recommended]

3-Star guest friendly hotel with 127 Rooms.

Room rates start from $60.

Rooftop pool, fitness centre, free WIFI, 24 hour room service and a shuttle around the local area. It ticks all the boxes. These are serviced apartments, so all come with kitchenettes which is a bonus if you are staying longer than a night or 2. The location is great and is opposite Levels nightclub and the trendy and popular Oscar bistro is just next door.

Overall: An excellent choice for the area, hard to beat this place and it’s very good value for money.

Reserve a room through this agoda link for the best insider deals price (I was quoted 1989 baht a night in October 2017 which is great value for the area)

Climax Nightclub. Located on Soi 11 under the Ambassador hotel. The best freelancer nightclub in the area by far.

Aloft Hotel

4-star, guest friendly hotel with 297 rooms.

Room rates start from around $89

A funky, modern hotel that is spotlessly clean with well appointed rooms. Rooftop pool is great and has a modern fitness centre. Free shuttle service to the BTS and nearby area. The trendy and popular ‘Levels’ nightclub is located in this hotel.

Overall: A great hotel in an ideal location. The smallest room is 32 sq m which is big already, if you like modern hotels and can secure a good room rate then Aloft is hard to beat.

Tips: Try to book as far in advance as possible through this agoda link for the best room rates (I was quoted 2965 baht a night in October 2017 which is great value)

Dream Hotel

5-Star guest friendly hotel with 195 rooms.

Room rates start from around $57.

Swimming pool, fitness centre, spa, shuttle service and 5-star service.

Overall: This hotel was really famous when it first opened as it was way ahead of it’s time in terms of design and overall experience, and still holds up well today. For me the location is not the best as it is quite far down soi 15, but that means it is very quiet at night.

The Dream hotel has a shuttle service and there are many taxis on hand for short trips. Many visitors are repeat customers here and will only ever book this hotel, so that speaks volumes for how good this hotel is.

Tips: Reserve a room through this agoda link for the best insider deals price (I was quoted 1900 baht for a night in October 2017 with breakfast which is great value for a 5-Star hotel).

Dream Hotel is great place to book last minute as they sometimes drop their prices based on occupancy rates, definitely worth checking if you are in a tight spot.

Grande Swiss Sukhumvit 11

A 4-star, guest friendly hotel with 144 rooms.

Room prices start at around $89 a night.

Swimming pool, fitness centre, free WIFI and a nice bar on site.

Overall: An amazing location, probably the best in this list as it’s only a 2 minute walk to Nana Skytrain station. A solid 4 star hotel in the area. Rooms are slightly smaller than average but are well appointed and spotlessly clean. You can’t go wrong booking in here.

Tip: Book here as far in advance as possible for the best room rates. (I was quoted 2959 baht for a room in Oct 2017 booking through this agoda link)

Fraser Suites Sukhumvit serviced apartments

A 5-Star, guest friendly serviced apartment hotel with 163 rooms.

Room prices start from around $76 a night.

Luxurious, spacious serviced apartment with 5-star service. Swimming pool, fitness centre and complimentary shuttle service. The onsite restaurant ‘Charcoal’ is arguably the best Indian restaurant in Bangkok. Above Eleven rooftop bar on the 33rd floor is a great spot for a date.

Overall: Many return visitors swear by this place, only staying here and its easy to see why; spacious 5-star apartments in a great location with consistently good service to match. A hard place to beat, if you have the wallet for it then just book in here and forget the rest. It’s definitely worth the money to stay here if you’re getting shacked up with a local lady for a few days 😉

Reserve a room through this agoda link for the best insider deals prices (I was quoted just 2524 baht a night for a 52 sq.m. apartment in Sept/Oct/Nov 2017 which is outstanding value for what you get)

Hot freelancer girls flock to Soi 11, there are plenty to go round in the nightclubs here.

Also consider if your chosen hotel is fully booked:

Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 – 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 161 rooms. Solid, clean 3-star hotel. Rooms from around $61.

Here is the now closed President Palace Hotel on Soi 11. I had many a good night here.

Finally here is a tribute photo to my old favourite hotel on Soi 11, the President Palace Hotel. I had many a good night in there 🙂
